I will be staying offsite but will be running the WDW 10K in January. I will likely drive - how bad are the road closures? Or is the road closures only for the half and full marathons. I'd be close to Disney Springs.

    Hi April!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Congratulations on registering for the Walt Disney World 10K!

While we won't know the exact routes for certain until the Digital Event Guide is released a couple weeks prior to the event our best indicator is what is happened in past years, with the understanding that these are subject to change. Based on past years, there will be some road closures the morning of the Walt Disney World 10K, but most of them will occur after you are already in your corral, usually starting around 5 AM. The most significant road closures will begin late Friday and Saturday night through the following morning for both the Walt Disney World Half Marathon and Walt Disney World Marathon.

Looking at last years Digital Event Guide, they will provide specific driving directions for individuals that are driving themselves. Please make sure to follow these directions as any other route could potentially have closures and I would just make sure to give yourself an ample amount of time. With the race beginning at 5:30 AM, participants staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotels are asked to board their transportation no later than 4 AM so I would plan on leaving your hotel around 3:30 AM to give yourself plenty of time for potential traffic.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
