Richard,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
The availability of taxis at the front of the parks has waned a bit since the arrival of ride-share services like Uber and Lyft. But depending on the time of day, I often find a taxi or two ready and waiting. But you are asking specifically about the availability of taxis at the end of a park day, when it is likely that you are leaving at the same time as a rather large number of other Disney guests. Taxis are likely to be few and far between at that time, and the queue for them will likely be long.
RECOMMENDATIONI would strongly recommend you have a ride prearranged to pick you up. Otherwise, the wait could stretch out far longer than you might want, and it could put a negative ending on your otherwise magical day in the park.
BONUS TIP #1The
Disney Minnie Van Service Connected by Lyft has returned. While it is not yet transporting guests to and from the Orlando airport, these polka-dotted vans are ready to take you to your destination within the Disney resort area. They also have accessible versions, so if someone in your party needs some accommodation, Minnie Mouse is ready to help! If you are staying at a Disney resort, this might be your best bet.
BONUS TIP #2
Finding a taxi waiting at a Disney resort hotel has also dipped. I would secure a ride ahead of time if you are moving from a resort to your next stop.
BONUS TIP #3Guests sometimes do not realize it, but the taxi stand for the
Magic Kingdom is actually at the Transportation & Ticket Center, not directly in front of the park entrance like at the other theme parks. So just monorail on around, and you will find the taxi stand there.
