Hi there, Heather!
In just a few more days you'll be headed to the Sunshine State to see your favorite
Disney Pals! I know you must be so excited to kick off your magical vacation!
Heather, the monorail has always been more of an attraction for my family instead of just a mode of transportation. Although my Mouseketeers are older now, it doesn't feel like a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort without at least one ride on the highway in the sky. I love your idea to explore the resorts along the monorail on your day off from the parks. There are three resorts located on the
Walt Disney World Monorail System-
Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Like other Disney Resort hotels,
complimentary self-parking is available for day Guests who would like to dine, eat, and shop. Each Resort hotel offers some great shops for souvenirs and some fabulous Quick-Service meal options. At Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, I recommend grabbing a bite at Capt. Cook's and a Dole Whip for dessert at Pineapple Lanai! At Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Gasparilla Island Grill offers a delicious fare. And if you're hungry when you reach Disney's Contemporary Resort, Contempo Café is always a family favorite for my crew.
One thing you'll want to keep in mind on the day you ride the monorail is to travel light. Before you hop on at each stop, you will have to go through security. The lines are typically short, but you might want to leave your park bag behind that day, so it won't have to be checked each time.
Have a MAGICAL vacation!!!
Nancy
