We are staying off property. Do we need magic bands?

    Heigh-Ho Jaynee,

Thank you for continuing to visit planDisney with your curiouser and curiouser Walt Disney World vacation planning inquiries.

Guests have a couple of options when it comes to gaining access to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks with their Walt Disney World ticket. The most popular is the MagicBand. The MagicBand is a  wristband that comes in a variety of colors and designs and works cohesively with your My Disney Experience profile in accessing your reservations at just a tap on the entrance access point at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and even your Disney Resorts Collection hotel door. Guests staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel also have charging privileges with their MagicBand.

Another option is a Key to the World card, this is a hard ticket. Guests will need to receive one before entering their first Walt Disney World Theme Park. Prior to entering make your way to Guest Relations/Ticket Counter, in front of the Parks Entrance. Have your My Disney Experience profile information, Will Call ID Number, or a printed confirmation of your tickets ready for the Cast Member. A Cast Member will assign each Guest a Key to the World hard ticket for use throughout their entire stay.

And finally, this year is the debut of Disney’s MagicMobile. I highly recommend Guest create a My Disney Experience profile and download the mobile app. This is your Walt Disney World vacation hub and Guests are able to link, assign and modify their Walt Disney World tickets as well as make Disney Park Pass reservations. And NOW Guests, through their My Disney Experience, can set up Disney’s MagicMobile on their mobile app. Currently, only available for Apple devices but soon to be ready for Android devices, Guests can create a digital pass to store in their Apple Wallet. Guests can follow the easy instructions to create their personal Walt Disney World ticket digital pass and as they prepare to enter the park use their Apple device to scan over the access point and continue on to enjoy the Magic. Disney’s MagicMobile is convenient for scanning Disney PhotoPass moments and gaining access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. I am excited to see all the new things Disney’s MagicMobile will do and the Disney Parks Blog is a great place to stay up to date.

I hope your upcoming stay is filled with many magical and memorable moments and check out our Instagram (@planDisneypanel) for more Disney Magic.

    Have a Practically Perfect Day,

    Amy M.

Meet the Panelist: Amy, Virginia

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
