We are staying off the disney property. Where are the closest restaurants off site to eat and go back to the park? Can you bring a backpack into the park with food? Thanks!

Hi, Kristen!  Just outside of the Downtown Disney area is a shopping center called Crossroads.  You'll find a couple of fast food locations there - McDonald's and Taco Bell - as well as several table service restaurants.  You'll find a broad range of dining experiences there - including Red Lobster, Chevy's Mexican Restaurant, Fuddruckers for burgers, and Quizno's for subs. You'll also find pizza and Indian cuisine there.

You can bring food in your backpack into the theme parks.  You can't bring any glass containers, and you can't bring anything with straws into Animal Kingdom, but pretty much anything else is okay.  Keep in mind how hot it can get while you tour the parks, though, and avoid anything perishable or meltable!  I'm still scraping chocolate bunny out of the bottom of my favorite backpack from when my youngest daughter thought it was a good idea to pack some of her Easter candy for a trip into Magic Kingdom!

    Have a great trip!
