Hello Susan!
What a great choice for your stay!
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas- Kidani Village is one of my family's
Disney Vacation Club Home Resorts. We love the uniqueness of this resort, along with the relaxed atmosphere, and feel transported to another land when staying here. Where else can I enjoy my morning coffee while watching the giraffe munch on their breakfast?
My husband and I usually do purchase the Resort Refillable Mugs when staying at Kidani Village. There is a convenient mug refill station located inside the lobby gift shop,
Johari Treasures, which is open from 7 AM to 10 PM. Mugs can also be refilled at the
Maji Pool Bar from 11 AM to 8 PM, and at
The Mara at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo House which is currently open for breakfast only between 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. With Covid-19 safety precautions, you will not fill your mugs yourself, but be handed a disposable cup of your beverage of choice with which to fill your purchased Resort Refillable Mug.
Drinks can be purchased on an individual basis at these same locations for Guests who have not bought Resort Refillable Mugs. So if you don't wish to purchase the mugs, you can still buy drinks as you go. The Resort Refillable Mug is completely optional, and its value depends on how often you would drink soft drinks or coffee and tea at your resort. As someone who enjoys soft drinks, I find it a good value if I'll be staying 3 or more days. We tend to fill our mugs up in the morning on our way to the theme parks, then refill them when we arrive back at the resort, and I usually fill them multiple times when visiting the pool area. I have been a nurse for almost 20 years and my children will tell you I tend to nag about hydration and drinking enough! If it is available, my favorite at the resort is the Light Pomegranate Lemonade. Give it a try!
You will need to bring your mug with you to refill, so that the Cast Member knows you have paid for a Resort Refillable Mug, and not just looking for a complimentary beverage. The mugs are valid at hotels in the Disney Resort Collection, for the entire length of your stay. So if you have your mugs with you and visit another resort's quick-service location, you can get a refill on your mug there too! But yes, you do need to have your mug with you to receive your refill.
I hope this helps with your planning, Susan! And I should add, the mugs make a great souvenir to bring home. We have several styles and they make great on-the-go coffee mugs!
