Hi. I will be staying at the Grand Floridian July 8th-12th. Is the lobby currently under construction? Thank you

Greetings, Lisa, and thank you for allowing planDisney to help you get ready for some magic at Walt Disney World Resort! You'll be arriving any minute now, so I'm happy to do some digging to see the current construction situation at your home away from home. Let's put on our hard hats and get to work!

My husband and I stayed at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa earlier this year and fell in love with this elegant property. At the end of a busy day, our favorite activity was watching Happily Ever After over Magic Kingdom Park from the resort's shoreline. At that time, most of the construction was outside the main building with scaffolding in view, but we rarely heard any noise since we were at the theme parks during the day.

I chatted with a friendly Cast Member who said most of the refurbishment projects at this resort are taking place in other areas, but you might see some evidence of the remodel in and around the lobby. On the day we left, cones and sheeting had gone up overnight throughout the lobby, so it's difficult to predict what you'll see from day to day. Seeing the changes firsthand was exciting, so we considered it a unique aspect of our visit instead of an inconvenience. After all, Walt Disney himself said, "Progress is impossible without change."

Lisa, I'm thrilled about your upcoming stay at this stunning resort. I'm a little envious, so please think of me when you board the monorail. Remember, planDisney is always here for you, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything...even a hammer and nails!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
