I we are going to be staying there in a full hook up site in 2 weeks . Are fires permitted and what is approved fire pits.

Howdy Carla, and welcome to planDisney! Fort Wilderness is such a unique and special place to stay. I love the laid-back vibes while being just a short boat ride away from the energy of Magic Kingdom!

And there’s nothing like relaxing at your campsite in the evening with the warm glow and crackling sound of a campfire! So I’m happy to share that fires are permitted as long as they’re in an approved fire pit. Fort Wilderness requires them to be completely enclosed with a solid metal top so there’s no exposed flame or escaping embers or sparks. If you’re not sure about your specific fire pit, I’d recommend talking with a manager when you arrive at Fort Wilderness.

Speaking of flames, don’t miss my family’s favorite Fort Wilderness activity—Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long! It’s a fun-filled evening of marshmallow toasting and singing and dancing along with those mischievous chipmunks. You can bring your own s’mores ingredients or buy some from the food truck there.

Another one of my must-dos is visiting the horses at Tri-Circle-D Ranch near the Settlement area. It’s so cool to meet the four-legged celebrities from the Main Street Vehicles and Festival of Fantasy Parade! There are also pony rides for the little ones (right at this barn) and trail rides for the young-at-heart (at the stables near the Main Entrance). But if you’re looking for something the whole family can do together, you might be interested in the carriage rides. It’s a great way to tour the campground and see some of the amazing decorations fellow campers put up!

I also wanted to share one last tip before I go. Trail’s End Restaurant lets you mobile order food through the My Disney Experience app, which can be a nice time saver. My family likes to order ahead and pick up the Barbecued Ribs and Fried Chicken to eat back at our campsite. It’s also a great way to grab breakfast on the go before getting on the boat to Magic Kingdom.

I’m wishing you the most magical stay at Fort Wilderness! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
