Howdy Paula, and welcome back to planDisney! I love the
cabins at Fort Wilderness because you get all the rootin’ tootin’ fun of the campground with all the comforts of home.
I also usually skip renting a car when I'm at Disney World, so the last time I stayed at Fort Wilderness, a Cast Member kindly brought my family’s luggage to our cabin. Let the front desk know when you check in and they’ll be happy to arrange this for you. When it’s time to check out, call
Bell Services and they’ll come to your cabin for your bags. They can also keep your luggage at Bell Services if you're not ready to leave yet.
If you only have a small suitcase or two and are
renting a golf cart, you may be able to fit them on the cart. The rental area is right by where you'll be dropped off by ride-share service or other airport transportation. However, during my last stay, we had way too many bags to do this and definitely needed Bell Services to help us!
Speaking of golf cart rentals, while it’s not necessary (since there’s a bus that runs throughout the campground), it’s definitely convenient for getting around… and lots of fun! My family loves to explore the campground in our golf cart. When you’re there in November, a lot of guests will probably have Thanksgiving and Christmas decor on their campsites, so I definitely recommend driving around the different campground loops to see them. You might also want to decorate your golf cart, even if it’s just something simple. It’s part of the Fort Wilderness fun and also helps you find your cart in the parking areas. String and/or painter's tape makes it easy to hang decorations without damaging the cart. My family usually hangs battery operated string lights and mini streamers.
I’m so excited for you to experience everything Fort Wilderness has to offer!
Magic Kingdom is just a short boat ride away, but my family could spend the whole day without ever leaving the campground. Some of our favorite activities include visiting
Tri-Circle-D Ranch (this is where the horses live that you see in the
Festival of Fantasy Parade and
Main Street Vehicles over in Magic Kingdom) and watching the short
Electrical Water Pageant from the beach (check the
My Disney Experience app to see what time it’ll be in front of the campground).
And our absolute must-do on every trip is dancing along with Chip ’n’ Dale at their
Campfire Sing-A-Long. It happens nightly at Fort Wilderness, weather permitting, and is followed by a Disney movie in case you’re not ready for bed yet!
I hope you have the most magical stay at Fort Wilderness. And don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney if you have any other questions!
