I am staying at the DVC Jambo House in July. Will daily recreation activities and nightly movies be offered?

    Welcome Home, Amanda!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas is one of my family’s Home Resorts and is one of our favorite locations. There is something about the atmosphere that makes me feel as if we have escaped the everyday and have been transported to a far-off place. When I am on vacation at Disney, I love the total break from the rest of the world. (Even if I am still doing four kids worth of laundry in my villa!)

Currently, both Jambo House and Kidani Village are open to Disney Vacation Club Members to book with Vacation Points. However, the standard Guest Rooms at Jambo House are not taking reservations yet, and this leads to a different atmosphere than Guests may be accustomed to at Jambo House. While the pool area is open and very active during the day, the gift shop and most dining options remain closed, and the lobby is fairly quiet.

At this point, you will not find campfires or the traditional daily activities such as the drum circle, medallion rubbing, night vision goggle animal viewing, or educational activities. The pool is still offering socially distant pool games like Bingo and Disney trivia games during the traditional afternoon pool party. I did call and speak to a Cast Member to double-check for you, and you’ll be happy to know that evening Movies Under the Stars are offered on alternating nights at Jambo House and Kidani Village. This is of course, subject to change. Over the past few weeks Disney has been announcing the return of some favorites such as A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and the Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, so things are slowly returning. You never know what else may be back in time for your trip!

I hope this helps as you make plans for your visit, Amanda. We made our first pandemic trip “Home” back in October, and while things were certainly different, the magic was still there. At one point my teenage son looked at me and said, “Mom, I'm so glad we came.” After such a long year of challenges, a dose of Disney was what we all needed. Enjoy your dose of Disney, Amanda!

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
