Hi there, Deb!
Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question. It sounds like you have a
Bahamian cruise coming up on the
Disney Magic...how exciting! I actually did this exact itinerary just last month, and I can already tell you’re going to have an amazing time.
Since you’re staying at the Drury Plaza Hotel, I wanted to share a few transportation options to help you get to Port Canaveral.
Disney Cruise Line does offer ground transfers for Guests staying at Good Neighbor Hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard (which includes the Drury). These motorcoach transfers are $45 per person each way (prices subject to change) and can be added to your cruise reservation up to three days before you sail. To set this up, just give
Disney Cruise Line a call directly, or contact your travel agent if you booked through one.
Because your hotel doesn’t have direct pickup for Disney transportation, the closest pickup location would likely be Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. You’d just need to take a rideshare or taxi from the Drury to Port Orleans that morning. Keep in mind that parking at the Resort isn’t permitted during your cruise, so I wouldn’t recommend driving yourself.
One of the benefits of using Disney transfers is that once you’re on the motorcoach, they take care of everything, including your luggage. You’ll drop your bags off at the resort, and they magically show up in your stateroom. Plus, Disney transfer guests are sometimes allowed to enter the terminal a bit earlier, which can lead to an earlier Port Arrival Time.
However, if Disney transportation doesn’t quite work with your plans, there are still great alternatives. You can book a private car service or MEARS shuttle online, or go with what my group of six did, which is to use a rideshare service. We scheduled it the night before, and even though it was a bit of a squeeze, it ended up being the most economical option for us.
Whatever you decide, I hope you have a smooth journey to the port and a wonderful time aboard the Disney Magic. If you have any more questions before you sail, I’m all ears!
Happy cruising,
Eean
