We are staying at Disney's Yacht Club Resort during runDisney's Springtime Surprise weekend. We have a Magic Kingdom Theme Park reservation, should we plan for transportation delays getting to Magic Kingdom?

    Oh boy, Jennifer!

It's so great to see you here at planDisney. I'd be happy to help you navigate logistics for your upcoming April trip.

Between the adorable theming and the soon-to-be-announced courses, runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is sure to be a hit! I had my eye on the Disney Pixar Toy Story 10-miler but unfortunately have to blast off to infinity and beyond for another important event that same weekend.

Course maps have not yet been released for these events, but I'm hopeful that road closures and traffic delays won't cause any intergalactic emergencies for you during your visit. Each of the races is set to begin at 5 a.m. EST and current details list EPCOT as the location for the 5k, 10k, and 10-miler races, and Disney's Hollywood Studios for the 1-hour yoga experience. Based on the Hours & Events Calendar which is available through the first week of April at this time, Magic Kingdom Park is likely to open at 9 a.m. with Early Entry for resort guests beginning at 8:30 a.m. Hours are subject to change so be sure to check back closer to your arrival for the most up-to-date schedules.

Considering the 16-minute minimum pace requirement for the 10k and 10-miler events, I'm hopeful any local road closures will be just about complete by the time you are ready to begin your park day. We'll know more once the maps are released and you can make a contingency plan if you think your plans might be affected. I typically see course info released 1-2 weeks before a particular event, so keep your eye on the runner info pages.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort is in a fantastic location on Crescent Lake, and conveniently located within walking distance of Disney Skyliner. You can use it to transfer to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney's Art of Animation Resort to board a complimentary bus to Magic Kingdom Park on the date of your reservation, if necessary. Since those resorts are located a little further from EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, local road closures and delays may not be an issue.
I'd recommend stopping by Guest Services at Disney's Yacht Club for more information upon your arrival. The Cast Members will have all the latest details pertaining to race transportation and can advise alternate travel plans if needed.

I hope this helps put you at ease for your April trip. No need to be a Nervous Rex! If I can help with anything else, please come back and see me again!

    So long, partner,
