Hi Gregory!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We too have stayed with a large group at
Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Since it has some of the largest rooms on property, it’s a great choice for your party. We loved the relaxed, Old Florida feel of the resort, and lush vegetation. Be sure to take the kids to the sandcastle themed pool at least once. My boys loved that waterslide!
At Disney’s Old Key West, rooms that are closest to the Hospitality House are actually a separate, preferred booking category. If you are not already booked into that category, I would call and see if it is still available. These rooms are a short walk from the Hospitality House where you will find the main pool, shopping and dining, as well as being near a bus stop.
If there is not availability to be in one of the preferred rooms, not to worry! There are still several other areas that are close to a pool and a bus stop, just not the main feature pool. While requests are never guaranteed, Cast Members will do their best to meet your need. I find that the more general the request, the more likely that your request will be met. For example, I would recommend simply requesting “near bus stop and pool”. Since there are multiple bus stops and quiet pools at Disney’s Old Key West, there are several buildings that would fit this requirement. If you were wishing to try to request a specific building, you might consider buildings 53 or 56, 19 or 20, or 40, 41, 43 or 44. Of course there will still be a walk to either pools or bus stops, but these buildings are slightly more centrally located near both.
I hope you have a restful and magical vacation to Disney’s Old Key West Resort!
