If you are staying in a disney hotel and it is my 13yrolds birthday can they do anyhing special for them? julieXX

    Julie,

If you let the front desk at the resort know that you have someone with a birthday in your group, they will often send a simple congratulations to your room, often in the form of a signed card from the person's favorite Disney character and a balloon. Be sure to let the front desk know who their favorite character is. Of course there are no guarantees that they will/can do anything for the birthday, but it is fairly common.  When we did this the last time, I found that it helped to remind them on the morning of the birthday, as it seems it had slipped through the cracks.  By the way, there is no charge for this service.

Other things to do which are free:
    - Get a birthday button (from park or resort guest services).  This has a way of making "magic" come to the person with the button! ;-)
    - Mention the birthday at any table-service restaurant (talk to the restaurant host), and they will often include some simple extra dessert to celebrate the event.

Personally, I think it is best to also mix in some of your own effort and creativity to make sure that the birthday person has a great day.  For example, you can make them a T-Shirt to wear on that day that loudly announces their birthday, or let them make all of the decisions for the park and attractions for the day, or order a special cake from WDW's cake hotline to be served at one of your meals (407-827-2253), or splurge by arranging something extra special with the helpful folks who specialize at planning WDW Birthday celebrations (407-939-BDAY).

With a mix of your planning, and a fun attitude, I'm sure their birthday will be extra special at WDW. ºoº
