    When staying at a Disney hotel it says you get a free magic band. Do you get to choose your band and can you pay to upgrade to one of the more expensive character ones? Or are you just given a band at check in that will be yours for the holiday?

    I hope you're having fun dreaming about your next Disney adventure, and I'm so glad that you stopped by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with another important question!

    Yes, I'm happy to share that all Disney Resort hotel Guests do receive complimentary MagicBands. That's just one of the many perks for choosing to stay at a Disney Resort hotel! And yes, you'll be able to log in to your My Disney Experience account and customize your MagicBand with your name and the color you'd like. Currently, you may choose from red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, or gray. At this point, you won't be able to upgrade your complimentary MagicBand to a specialty one, but if you'd like to purchase one and link it to your account, you're certainly welcome to do so. You can use multiple MagicBands interchangeably as long as they're each marked "Active" within your My Disney Experience account. Since MagicBands are reusable from previous trips, I often bring multiple MagicBands with me and change which one I'm using to match my outfit or mood for the day!

    While Disney does ship some MagicBands ahead of time, many of our friends traveling from overseas pick up customized MagicBands upon arrival. You can simply stop by the front desk of your Disney Resort hotel, pick up your MagicBands, and let the magic and fun begin!
