Hi Veronica! You're son is going to have an awesome 9th birthday at Walt Disney World! There are lots of great restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan that make celebrations extra special!
If you're willing to use two Dining Plan table-service credits, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness is a rollicking good time and the entertainers really fawn over guests celebrating special occasions. The all-you-can-eat country-style food is tasty, and the show is so funny and entertaining. If you go to the early show, you could hang around the Fort to take in Chip'n'Dale's Campfire Sing-a-Long followed by a movie under the stars. If your son appreciates gourmet food, the California Grill is a fantastic restaurant with a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. The food is quite upscale, but there are also kid friendly options such as pizza.
For a one-table service credit celebration, consider a character meal at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort.
Mickey and friends will stop by the table, and the buffet has lots of items to
please both adults and kids. The characters dance to a special celebration song while everyone twirls napkins above their heads, and there's even a make-your-own
sundae bar!
My nine-year-old loves the Sci-Fi Dine-In because you eat in your meal in cars while watching campy drive-in movies. Some of the servers even deliver your burgers, shakes and sandwiches on roller skates!
Some other great choices are 'Ohana in the Polynesian, where the entertainer acknowledges those celebrating special events and there are activities for kids during the meal, and the Whispering Canyon Cafe, where the servers are always cracking corny jokes and engaging in funny shenanigans.
Hope your son's birthday is magical! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel
if you have more questions! We'd love to help!
