We are staying at the Contemporary on our upcoming trip, any advice on how to get a room with a view of the MK?

    Hi Marcia,

The Contemporary is a fantastic property. My boys could spend hours just watching the monorail glide in and out of the building.

The Magic Kingdom view is beautiful, especially late in the night when the park is closed but the lights still shine through the darkness. We stayed there last October and were lucky enough to score the popular Magic Kingdom view. We loved going to sleep with the curtains open and Cinderella Castle as our night light.

There are two ways, that I know of, to score this view. One is to pay for it.  The Magic Kingdom view is a room option.  Guests selecting this room type is paying for a guarantee of some angle of a theme park view when you reserve your room.

The second option is a lot of pixie dust. The Contemporary Cast Members do provide magical  upgrades to select guests at no additional charge. This upgrade is, to my knowledge completely random, and just a treat when these rooms are available. You can ask at the time of check in, if there are any Magic Kingdom views available that you could be placed in and then keep your fingers crossed. We have had this surprise upgrade twice and it was a welcome treat. Just remember though, not to get your hopes up. This free upgrade is not always available so I would hate for you to start your trip off disappointed.

Good luck and lots of pixie dust!
