If we are staying at Contemporary, I know we can either walk or take monorail to MK. If we take monorail, do we: 1. get off at TTC and take a boat over to MK or 2. ride the monorail to MK the entire way 3. some way else Thank you!

If you take the monorail, you do not have to get off at the Ticket and Transportation Center. You can ride the monorail all the way to the Magic Kingdom. From the Contemporary, the monorail will make stops at the TTC, the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian, and then the MK. The entire ride takes about 10-12 minutes, only a teeny bit longer than walking and it saves a bit of shoe leather. If you really were in the mood for a boat ride, you could get off at the TTC and take the ferry to the Magic Kingdom, but you would likely add at least 10 minutes (or much more) to your journey while you wait for the boat to arrive.
