Hi, Kristin! Only a few more months until you travel to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Disney's Contemporary Resort is our home away from home, and it's our favorite place to stay.
The past two yEARs, I've stayed in a room with a Theme Park View, and let me tell you... it is SPECTACULAR! We love being able to watch
Happily Ever After from our balcony in the comfort of our pajamas, and my favorite part is seeing Tinker Bell fly! My son discovered that we could even "pipe" in the music on our TV. I get goosebumps every time!
I've also stayed in a room with a Lake View several times. While you can't see the fireworks from this location, you'll get an excellent view of the
Electrical Water Pageant, which you won't be able to see from a Theme Park View room. This is Disney nostalgia at its best, and it is a must do for me on every trip. It debuted in 1971, and although there have been a few changes, it remains mostly the same. The show makes its nightly circuit around the Seven Seas Lagoon and will reach Disney's Contemporary Resort at approximately 10:10 PM. I always look forward to the patriotic finale when all the screens on the barges change to the American Flag and Stars, and they play "You're a Grand Old Flag."
I have a couple of suggestions for you. If you decide to splurge on a Theme Park View room, you can walk over to the Skyway Bridge (which connects the Contemporary Resort to
Bay Lake Tower) and watch the Electrical Water Pageant from here (I confess that we also did this in our PJs). Alternatively, if you go with a more affordable Lake View room, you can watch Happily Ever After from the outside observation deck located by the exit next to the Fantasia Gift Shop. If you happen to be a Disney Vacation Club Member, make sure to watch from the
Top of the World Lounge. I love to end the night here with a Monorail Yellow cocktail!
Kristin, I hope this helps! Whatever view you decide to go with, I'm certain you'll have a great vacation, because my family believes Disney's Contemporary Resort is the most magical place in the "World!"
