Hi Michael!
Welcome to planDisney!
Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is one of my favorites and one of our Home Resorts as
Disney Vacation Club Members. We love the light and bright rooms, all the shopping and dining available nearby, and the location between Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is perfect for park days. Did you know they just opened a new ice cream location? Be sure to check out
BoardWalk Ice Cream, currently open daily beginning at 3 PM for that perfect ice cream sundae at the end of the day.
Michael, getting from one resort to another resort can take a bit of time, so you should leave yourself plenty of extra time if using Disney transportation. Taking either an Uber or a Taxi will be the fastest option, and the drive is about 12 to 15 minutes.
If you’d prefer to use Disney transportation you have a few options. The fastest would be to take a
bus from Disney’s BoardWalk to
Magic Kingdom. From Magic Kingdom, you can either take a bus or
boat to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The next option would be to either walk, boat, or take the
Disney Skyliner to
Disney’s Hollywood Studios. From there, you would transfer to a bus to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. I hate being late, and would rather be early and relax at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge before my dinner than be racing to the restaurant, so I would leave myself 90 minutes to make the journey with one of these routes. I tend to advocate enjoying the journey as well as the destination, so I would likely choose one of the methods that involve either the Disney Skyliner or water transportation just for the fun of it.
Theme park buses run for about an hour after park closing. Since the shops on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom close an hour after official park closing time, the buses from that park continue just a little bit later. Depending on how late your Advance Dining Reservation is, Magic Kingdom may still be open and you could boat or bus to the park, then take a bus home to Disney’s BoardWalk. Right now,
August Park Hours show Magic Kingdom closing at 9 PM, but they might be extended. I would check closer to your trip to see if that has happened. If it is after park closing though, you will need to choose either a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to get home.
I hope this helps with your planning, Michael! Please let me know if you have any additional questions before your visit. I’m always happy to help!
