We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas in December with 2 small children whose bedtime is 8:00. Will the fireworks from illuminations be disruptive or scary for them in the evening? Thanks for all of your help!

I have stayed at the Beach Club Villas several times. It is my family's favorite hotel ever. The noise from Illuminations is not hugely loud, but you definitely can hear about 10 minutes worth of boom booms at 9:00.

My experience there was that in the years when my kids went to bed at 8:00 the Illuminations fireworks were not an issue at all. By 8:00 they were usually deep enough asleep that they slept through the entire thing and were not really aware that anything had happened at.

Things were much more challenging when the kids' bedtime got a little later. When bedtime was at 8:45, the kids would not be fully asleep when Illuminations started and they would hear the fireworks. Of course their little heads would pop off the pillows and they would run to the window. It ended up that 9:15 became the de facto bedtime.

As to the scary factor ... My children never found the Illuminations fireworks noise scary from the distance of the Beach Club, particularly when you're indoors, there is a muffled quality to the sound. But obviously every child has a different noise threshold. Try to think about whether your kids would wake up if there were a thunderstorm that started an hour after they went to sleep. This will give you a decent idea of how they might react to Illuminations.
