Hi there, David! Welcome to planDisney. I'll be happy to assist you with finding the best way to utilize Walt Disney World's complimentary
resort transportation.
There are lots of options when it comes to getting around Walt Disney World Resort. With
buses,
boats, the iconic
monorail, and the
Disney Skyliner, transportation is almost an attraction itself! Since you'll be staying at
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, you'll have the convenience of monorail transportation close to your villa. The monorail will be quick and convenient transportation to
EPCOT, requiring a transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center, just one stop away from Disney's Contemporary Resort.
As much as I love the Disney Skyliner, it may not be your best option in this case. In order to reach
Disney's Hollywood Studios by traveling via monorail and then taking the Disney Skyliner from International Gateway, you would need to have a ticket with the
Park Hopper Option and a
Disney Park Pass reservation for EPCOT to enter the park through the main entrance near Spaceship Earth and walk approximately 15 minutes to exit at International Gateway. You would then not be able to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios until after 2:00 pm when
park hopping hours begin. This might be a fun and enjoyable journey, but with transfers and walking would likely take over an hour. There is no walking path outside EPCOT to reach International Gateway from the monorail station without entering the park.
If you plan to begin your day at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it would be much more efficient to use bus transportation from Disney's Contemporary Resort directly to your destination. Did you know, you can find transportation directions in the
My Disney Experience mobile app? Use the search button at the bottom of the screen to type in your destination, then select "Get Directions". You'll be able to enter your starting location and get transportation directions and the approximate travel time.
I hope that helps! Please stop by and let us know if you have any additional questions. Enjoy your visit!
