Michael,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
I am planning our first family getaway to
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa as well, and like you I always want to lock in the transportation reservations as soon as my dates are set. You have a few options, which I can share here, as well as some of our transportation plans on our vacation.
To begin, the Aulani website has a page just about
Parking & Transportation. It has links to all their recommended travel partners.
Shuttles: Disney has a recommended shuttle service,
Hele Hele Shuttle Service, and you should book by connecting from the link on that Aulani web page, so that it can provide some of the information required. I checked with friends who have used the same service, and they recommend it highly.
Car Service: There are, of course, other options like cabs and private cars. Disney has a recommended Limousine vendor,
Platinum Limousine Services. The cost was around 2 to 3 times more expensive than the shuttle service, but obviously you get the luxury treatment!
Rental: You can also go the car rental route. There is a rental car desk on property, tied to their partners of Enterprise, Alamo, and National.
What are we doing?
We have opted for the Shuttle service, as we arrive in the early afternoon and plan to do nothing but explore the resort. In past visits to Aulani I have found that time to just enjoy the resort atmosphere is a great way to unwind from all that air travel. We are not even making a dinner reservation, and instead plan to grab a bite at
Off the Hook. That way we can sit outside, enjoy our escape to paradise, and not feel like we have to get all cleaned up for dinner when all we want to do is start our relaxing vacation.
BONUS TIPWe are renting a car on our next to last day so that we can explore Pearl Harbor and the North Shore. This way we have a car that we can use to take us back to the airport on our departure day. If a plan like this sounds good to you as well, make sure you budget for the daily parking charge at the resort.
I hope that this helps?
Write me back if you have some other questions about how I am planning my trip to paradise.
Have a Magical Vacation!
Doug
