Staying at art of animation in the autumn. Is there any charges for family visiting me at the resort and are they allowed to use and facilities?

    Hi Lisa!
    Welcome to planDisney.

It's always a pleasure to assist my fellow guests from the UK, and thank you for asking this question!

The good news is that there is no charge for your family to stop by and visit you at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, which is a wonderful larger-than-life Resort to explore.  There is so much to see, immersing yourselves in scenes from The Lion King, Finding Nemo, Cars, and The Little Mermaid. You can also make use of the Quick-Service restaurant Landscape of Flavors, which offers a wide choice of food to enjoy together.

While the Big Blue Pool is spectacular, being the largest pool in Walt Disney World Resort, unfortunately, it is not permitted for visitors to use the pool at a Disney Resort hotel - they are only for the use of guests with a room reservation at that hotel.  You may be required to show your proof of residency at the pool entry point.

As an alternative activity you could take the Disney Skyliner together (as there is a Skyliner station at this hotel).  It's a smooth, comfortable ride which I always feel is like an attraction all of its own.  You'll have fantastic views from high above, as you travel along, maybe simply on a round-trip, or you could visit some of the other Disney Resort hotels on the line - Disney's Riviera Resort and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.  Disney's Pop Century is also linked, but it's so close to Disney's Art of Animation (and you share the same Skyliner Station), that it is within walking distance if you want to look around that hotel.

If you want to enjoy some family pool time, don't forget the Disney water parks!  With something for everyone in your party - from the most adventurous to the most sedentary.  Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is currently open, showcasing the largest wave pool in North America!  Or take it at a slower pace around the lazy river - Castaway Creek, or grab a snack and a drink and relax on the beach.  For younger guests Ketchakiddee Creek provides just as much fun as rides for the whole family on Miss Adventure Falls!  One-day tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Window at the water parks.

Disney buses will take you to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon from your Disney Resort hotel - via transfer to another bus at Disney Springs.

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions, and you can send me a direct question if you wish.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical holiday to Walt Disney World!
