Hiya Megan,
Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your room preference question. Oh my goodness, what an incredible trip you have coming up, and it is just about a month away. You are combining two of my absolute favorite Disney experiences: staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and setting sail on a
Disney cruise. Talk about a magical land and sea adventure!
Let’s jump right into your question. Since you already have a
Savanna View room at the
Animal Kingdom Lodge, you are guaranteed to have a view of the animals roaming the savanna, which is such a special experience. One preference I do recommend requesting is a room closer to the lobby. Of course, room requests are never guaranteed, but the wonderful Cast Members always do their very best to accommodate them when possible.
On one of our past stays, we also had a Savanna View room, but it was located a bit farther down the hallway, so our view was slightly off to the side, and we didn’t see quite as many animals as we hoped. I had the chance to ask a Cast Member which request would offer the best overall view of the savanna, and they suggested requesting a room closer to the lobby, since those rooms tend to be more centrally located along the savanna. There is nothing better than having my morning coffee on the balcony and watching the zebras and giraffes roam around.
While you are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I also highly recommend looking into the
Starlight Safari. This is such a unique experience, where you head out onto the savanna after dark to observe the animals. The tours usually run twice each evening, around 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM, and guests are even given night vision devices to help spot the animals. It truly feels like stepping into your own nighttime safari adventure.
Megan, I hope this helps answer your question and adds a little extra magic to your upcoming trip. Wishing you the most wonderful time at Animal Kingdom Lodge and smooth sailing on your Disney cruise. If you have any more questions while planning, please feel free to stop by and visit us again.
See you real soon,
Christina
