We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge in Feburary 2016 , and are looking into the night safari, is it really worth the money there are 6 of us and we always go to the kilamajaro safari is there really a difference between the two?

Hi, Denise!  I would say the big difference between the two is that you are definitely closer to the animals.  No two safaris are the same, as you can imagine, since it really does depend on what the animals are doing, but I've done the safari two times now, and my family loves it.

Your safari vehicle takes you truly up close and personal to the animals on the savanna, and you get to go by the barns where the animals sometimes go for shelter.  The guides are exceptionally knowledgeable, and they are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.  You will learn a lot about not only the animals, but about the way things work behind the scenes.  It really is a fascinating tour.

The tour goes out usually at 10 PM and is an hour long.  Even on a warm evening, I recommend a light jacket - the safari vehicle is somewhat enclosed, but it still feels quite cool.  The best part of the trip is the night vision goggles.  This allows you to see the animals even in the darkest corners of the savanna.  I am surprised at how clearly you can see them, too.

A portion of the fee for the safari is donated to wildlife conservation, and that always makes me feel even better about taking the tour.

I think just for the access to the safari guides is worth the money, especially if you have animal lovers in your group.  My children always come away having learned something.
