I will be staying at the Animal Kingdom this fall in a concierge level room. With the continental breakfast and snacks and stuff, do you think we need to do the dining plan? It would be nice to save money on food after the costly room.

The answer depends on how much you eat and how many character meals (particularly breakfast) you want to have. I have stayed in a concierge level room and taken advantage of the food in the lounge. There is enough food there that you really can get your breakfast here without paying more for a restaurant. The lounge I visited had fruit, breakfast breads, hot and cold cereal and several other items. There were plenty of choices. However, if you wanted to have a character breakfast every day in the parks, then having the concierge lounge wouldn't be as much of an advantage.

Even some of the snacks in lounge could substitute for lunch if you were a relatively light eater. The food varies by hotel and the time of year, but when I used a concierge lounge, there were small sandwiches in the afternoon. We were also able to bring a piece of fruit with us into the parks, to cut down on snack purchases there.

So, my rough assessment is that if you eat breakfast in the lounge, have smallish lunches at a counter service place or at the lounge, and a regular table service meal for dinner, then you probably don't need the dining plan.
