Staying at AKL. Reserved a pool view room. Wondering if we should switch to a Savannah view, but the extra cost would be over $500 for 7 days. we will be there in November & will be in the parks all day long. Dark early - should we spend the extra $

Hi Chris! I love to stay in the deluxe resorts at Walt Disney World, but I can also be frugal so I generally reserve the least expensive room category. Like you, I usually question whether it's worthwhile to pay several hundred dollars more for a view, and for me, at many hotels, it's not. The Animal Kingdom Lodge, however, is one exception to my rule. I just love sitting on my resort room balcony there watching the animals grazing and frolicking on the savanna. It's such a unique experience, and in my opinion, it's well worth the cost. However, my family doesn't generally stay in the parks all day like you're planning to do. If you don't anticipate that you'll be at the resort much during daylight hours, then you might find you'd rather spend that extra $500 at some nice restaurants or on some great souvenirs. The Animal Kingdom Lodge does have several public viewing areas where your family can watch the animals. If you do find that you're hanging out at the resort more than you thought and you regret not reserving a savanna-view, you can always inquire at the front desk about upgrading just for the last few nights of your trip.

Wishing you a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We're happy to help!
