staying 1/3-1/10 at akl with 12 y old and 7 mo old ... not hearing to much good about the resort heard small pool ( thought it had a 67ft slide ? ) , far from all theme parks ? Nervous now i made the wrong decision ...can anyone tell me about the AKL PLeas

Hi, Angela!  I want to first say that everyone expects something different when they go on vacation, and Disney World in my opinion goes out of their way to make sure there is something for everyone.  Animal Kingdom Lodge happens to be one of my favorite resorts anywhere in the world!

The pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge is actually the largest at Walt Disney World, with a 67 foot water slide and a children's play area.  The zero entry pool also features two spas.

The big draw for me is the animals - of course!  Where else can you stay that you could wake up in the morning, and look off of your balcony in a savannah view room and see a giraffe?  Or if you are not in a savannah view room, how cool is it to take a few steps down the hall and spend breakfast admiring a zebra?  And don't miss the nightly storytelling by the fire pit outside on the savannah.  It's a great experience, especially for your 12 year old.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge also has one of the largest collections of African Art outside of Africa, so take time to admire the incredible pieces that you'll find.  Enjoy a meal at two of my favorite restaurants - Jiko and Boma.  Boma has a great breakfast buffet, and the dinner buffet is phenomenal.  Jiko is a signature restaurant with some amazing food and wine.

I love the gift shop, and they have a full program of activities throughout the day for kids to enjoy.

I don't think you made the wrong decision!  I hope you love it as much as I do!
