I’ve stayed at Fort Wilderness many times in the summer, but I’ve never checked out the tent loops. Considering the rain and heat, do many people tent camp in July and August? I want to try it but don’t want to be the only crazy family there.

Hi there, Aaron! Welcome to the wonderful world of planDisney! We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and allowing us to help you plan your visit to Walt Disney World Resort!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is the most magical way to camp and experience the great outdoors! This massive resort consists of 750 acres of forest and is home to a variety of critters including deer, ducks, rabbits, and armadillos. Many Guests even decorate their campsites to add a bit of fun and personal flair to their stays. It’s really no wonder why this resort has a massive following among Guests!

You can also look forward to a wide variety of recreational offerings including archery, fishing, horseback riding, bike rentals, kayak rentals, and more! If you and your family work up an appetite from all of your adventures, there’s no shortage of dining options available for you to chow down at! My family’s personal favorite location is Trail’s End Restaurant with their all-you-care-to-enjoy dining options. There’s quite as wonderful as feasting on comfort food after you’ve had fun playing in the woods!

While it is true that the weather can be quite hot during the summer months, you would definitively not be the only family choosing to camp! That being said, you will want to make sure you come prepared to face the elements during your stay. This will mean needing to pack supplies such as a rain shelter or a water-proof tent, fans to cool you off, and raincoats or umbrellas for your excursions in inclement weather. Camping during the summer months is incredibly fun as long as you plan well and always come prepared!

Regardless of your decision, I’m sure you will have a magical time visiting Walt Disney World Resort! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you along the way!
