We have stayed at other Disney resorts, but this will be our first time camping at Fort Wilderness. How long does it take to walk to the WL and how long does it take to get to each park? Mainly, AK and HS, I read transportaion from here was difficult.

    Krista,

Most people would not consider walking to the Wilderness Lodge (WL) from the Ft. Wilderness campgrounds.  It is about a 3/4 mile long walk from the Settlement Depot (one of the closest points in Ft. Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge) to the Wilderness Lodge, and it could be up to another mile from the Settlement Depot to your camp site.

So, I would recommend you use the internal Ft. Wilderness bus system as follows:

To Hollywood Studios (HS):  Board Purple, Orange or Yellow "Settlement" bus and exit at the Settlement Depot.  Then transfer to the HS bus.  Depending upon your wait times, this could take approximately 35 to 60 minutes.

To  Animal Kingdom (AK):  Board Purple Orange or Yellow "Outpost" bus and exit at the Outpost Depot.  Then transfer to the AK bus.  Depending upon your wait times, this could take approximately 40 to 65 minutes.

Another option, is to consider renting a car, or at least an Electric Golf Cart (available for rent at the Bike Barn) to get you to the HS or AK bus stops.  When we stayed at Ft. Wilderness, we rented a car, and I'm glad we did - it saved time and made for a more predictable journey to the parks.
