    I have stayed on Disney property several times, but have questions about the new refillable mugs that come with the DDP. Can I only get drinks from the soda fountains at my resort with the new mug? Could I scan my Magicband and use a paper cup?

    Hi Angela! 

    I used the new Rapid Refill Mugs on my last trip to Walt Disney World. 

    Just as always, you can use your Rapid Refill Mug at your resort for free refills throughout the duration of your trip. If you are not using the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) you can choose to pay for one, two or three days or the entire length of your stay. Since you have the DDP, you will automatically get the cup for the length of your stay. 

    If you purchase a separate drink with your meal, you may use that purchased paper cup to receive a drink from the Rapid Refill Station. However, if you do not purchase a drink, you may not use a paper cup to obtain a drink. The mugs and cups are enhanced with a RFID code, which tells the machine when to deactivate based on when the designated time is complete. The drink machine only works with cups enhanced with the RFID code. Therefore, you would be unable to use another type of cup to receive a refill, including a mug from a previous trip.
