hi, i would like to stay at a Disney hotel but don't want to be travelling far with a 3 year old? are the hotel in the middle of nowhere or can i grocery shops etc quite easily without a car?

Hi, Charlotte!  The good thing about the Walt Disney World resorts is that you really do feel as if you have been transported to another world.  Everything is all about being on vacation, leaving all the cares of the real world behind.

The bad thing is that nothing outside of the resort area is terribly easy to get to without a car.  For a full grocery shopping trip, you'll have to go at least a few miles from your resort, and if you want to do it economically - like at a WalMart Super Center - you'll have to go even further (about a 15 minute drive).

You can order your groceries to be delivered to your resort.  I personally like Garden Grocer, where I can browse items online and add them to my order.  You could also take a taxi to any of the area stores.  You can easily find a taxi cab at your resort.

The resorts themselves will have some necessary items.  Milk, bread, diapers, wine, and some snack food type items are readily available, along with things like sunscreen, over the counter medications, and things like that.

There is an Alamo Rental Car facility right on property.  If you want, you can rent the car for just a day, get some running around done and errands out of the way, then return the car.

I hope your upcoming vacation is practically perfect in every way!
