We'll stay at Beach Club 9/21-9/27. I heard that it's only 5 min walk from BC to Epcot. But how long is the walk from BC to the attractions/rides? Also, can we take that shortcut before the World Showcase is open at 11am?

Yes, it is only a five minute or so walk from the Beach Club resort to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. The Gateway entrance, located in the World Showcase area between France and England, does open when Future World opens, even if the World Showcase does not open until later (as is almost always the case). You can even enter there early if you have a very early character breakfast in Epcot. It's a good thing the Gateway entrance opens early, because there's not really any other way to get to Epcot from the Yacht, Beach, and Boardwalk resorts.

As for how long it takes to get to attractions, that varies considerably depending on which attraction you're talking about. If you want to get to the shops in England, you'll only need to add about two minutes to your park entrance time. To get all the way to down to Spaceship Earth (the big "golf ball" at the far opposite end of the park) it takes a fast walker probably 12-15 minutes. It could take a slow walker more like half an hour. With our family, made up of 2 moderately fast adult New Yorker walkers and 3 moderately slow tweenage kids, it takes us about 10-12 minutes to get from the Gateway to our favorite attraction at Epcot: Soarin'.
