Are there any staterooms on ships travelling in the Caribbean that allow for 4 passengers but don't have bunk beds? We're worried that the kids will fight over who gets the top bunk.

    Ahoy there, Beth!

Welcome aboard planDisney! I’m thrilled you and your crew are interested in planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Thanks for bringing your question to us.

I have good news for you and your kids (but mostly for you!). You can book a stateroom for your family that includes a queen bed, a single convertible sofa and a single wall pull-down bed (aka "murphy bed"). Some of these rooms also feature an upper berth single pull-down bed (the “bunk bed”) but you can let your Stateroom Host know that you do not want to use that bed and they will know not to prepare it each evening. The staterooms you should book are in the Deluxe Family Oceanview category. You can book them with or without a verandah.

To find one of these magical “quarrel-free” staterooms, just browse the itineraries and staterooms available on the Disney Cruise Line website under the Plan a Cruise tab. From there, select Find a Cruise and select the Caribbean as your destination. Once you have chosen the cruise itinerary and date you would like, you will enter the number and ages of the Guests in your family. From there you can choose which type of stateroom you would like. Remember, you will need to select either a Deluxe Family Oceanview or Deluxe Family Oceanview with Verandah. When you select a specific stateroom, you will see a listing of the bed configuration and can choose a room to accommodate your family’s needs.

I know you will find the perfect home-away-from-home because there is something for everyone on a Disney cruise, and not just the perfect stateroom configurations! Have you checked out the youth clubs yet? Your kids will have a blast exploring and learning in these wonderfully creative places created just for children, tweens, and teens. While they enjoy their special time, the adults in your party can participate in adult-exclusive fun. Of course, there is plenty for your family to enjoy together, including all the amazing entertainment onboard.

As you plan your cruise, Beth, I hope you will sail by planDisney again and let us answer other questions you may have or provide tips for making the most of your vacation.

    See ya real soon,
    Shannon
