We are starting to plan our next trip to Disney with our 3 and 6 year old girls. Which would you recommend Veterans Day weekend 2010 or MLK Jr weekend 2011? Also thinking about staying at the Polynesian resort is this a child friendly resort?

    HI Samantha!

I love that you're starting to plan already! I love planning early and it sounds like you do too!

Both weekends are holiday weekends, but since they aren't major ones (schools may only have a day or two off for these holidays) they aren't overwhelmingly crowded. Crowd-wise, the Martin Luther King holiday may be slightly less busy and the prices may be slightly less.

However, even considering those two factors, I would choose Veteran's Day weekend. The weather will most likely be more temperate than January which will be great for swimming. And, you'll be there during the holiday season. While some decorations may not be up yet, you'll see many holiday touches and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party should be going on (if past year's dates are any indication). The party is incredibly fun - it even snows on Main Street!

The Polynesian is a wonderful resort and its VERY kid friendly. There are tons of kids activities, such as hula dance lessons in the Great Ceremonial house. A Lilo & Stitch breakfast is hosted daily at O'Hana. And the Volcano pool is made for kids (big kids too!). The water slide winds through the volcano and is fun for nearly all ages!

I hope this helps! Have a great vacation!
