Hi Deisi, and welcome to planDisney! I get so excited when I’m planning a Disney vacation and totally understand how easy it is to make a mistake in the rush to get everything set up. Let’s figure out what you can do so everyone has a
MagicBand for the trip!
At Disney World,
MagicBands can’t be transferred to another person once they’re linked. However, I spoke to a Cast Member and they recommended calling the
My Disney Experience, MagicBand and MagicBand+ phone number to talk through your situation. While a solution isn’t guaranteed, I think it’s worth a try. Cast Members will try their best to see what’s possible.
If the MagicBand isn't able to be reassigned, the person with two bands can use them interchangeably. I have a few MagicBands and love to coordinate them with my outfit or the park that I’m visiting that day!
For the person without a band, there are two complementary alternatives that give them most of the same functionality as MagicBands. The first option is to get a Key to the World Card from
Guest Relations at the theme parks or at the Disney Springs Welcome Center. If you’re staying at a
Disney Resort hotel, they can pick one up from the front desk.
The second option is to set up
Disney MagicMobile Service on their phone. This is really convenient because they’ll be able to get most MagicBand features right from their phone’s digital wallet.
If they want another MagicBand, there will be lots to choose from at Disney World. One of my favorite places to get a new MagicBand is
D-Tech on Demand at
Disney Springs. You can design a custom band and even have your name printed on it! I’ve also seen customization kiosks at Tomorrowland Launch Depot in
Magic Kingdom, although they were down when I was there last month. I’m not sure when they’ll be up and running again, but you can pop in and check if you’re interested!
I love how easy it is to scan into theme park and
Lightning Lane entrances, link
PhotoPass pictures, and open Disney Resort hotel room doors right from my MagicBand. And don’t miss the
Fab 50 Characters that interact with the MagicBands. Keep an eye out for these gold statues throughout the theme parks for a pixie-dusted surprise!
I hope you have a magical visit to Disney World next week and I’m wishing on a star that you’re able to get your MagicBands sorted out. If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney!
