How do I start planning my trip to Disney world with a military discount? What documents do you need in order to get this discount?

Hiya, Megan! I'm so glad that you found the second star to the right and followed it on to us at planDisney!

First, let me sincerely thank you and yours for your military service! As a military spouse, I understand the dedication of our service members and how much quality time together means. To me, I can't think of a better way to spend that quality time together than at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

To me, planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort is almost as much fun as actually being there! Not only that, but Walt Disney World Resort loves to salute its military families with great rates on both Theme Park Tickets and resort hotels. Eligible service members are active and retired members of the military and their spouses. Megan, I would love to help you start planning your magical vacation. Let's start by looking at tickets!

You can purchase Military Salute Tickets either on your base (through Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) or purchased directly through Shades of Green. Personally, I enjoy ordering my tickets through Shades of Green because they arrive activated and ready to be used! No matter which way you purchase your tickets, you will want to make sure you link them to your account and make your Theme Park Reservations. This will ensure that you're able to reserve the parks you wish to visit on each day of your trip!

Eligible service members are also offered promotional rates on select Disney Resorts Collection hotels. The best way to see which hotels are available with a military rate is to call a Cast Member. Cast Members are a little like real-life fairy godparents who try to stretch their magic wands as far as they can reach for each Guest! My best recommendation would be to remain flexible on your dates and resorts. Sometimes it can open a whole new world of possibilities and I've found some new favorites this way - true story! If you call, I recommend calling when the phone lines open right at 7:00 AM EST since their kind of magic can sometimes be in high demand. Once you check into your resort hotel, you'll want to make sure you have your military ID handy!

Megan, I hope I was able to point you in the right direction as you begin planning for your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any other questions, I hope you fly your magic carpet our way again. After all, you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon!
