I am a stage 4 breast cancer patient who just started chemo again and will be losing my hair. Is there a place where I could get my head shaved? I want be on top of the hair loss and not be seeing clumps of hair falling out during my trip.

    Hello Margaret,

I saw your questions and felt compelled to reach out to you because I am a 4-year Breast Cancer survivor. I understand what it means to return to Walt Disney World during a time when you need it most. And I, too, with permission from my doctors and with much caution, returned to Walt Disney World days after my first round of chemo. I am speaking from my heart and because I am also a hairstylist, if you are concerned about hair loss, during your visit, I suggest having someone at home, in a comfortable environment shave your head prior to visiting. Days before my visit, mine started coming out. And while we are all different, for me, it was one of the hardest things I had to do was shave my head. For me, it was the right decision to be in a place, where I could go through my emotions safely. So, please, consider thinking about your safe place for this time. At the moment, Walt Disney World hasn't opened any places for Guests to receive hair services. If you decide to wait, until your arrival, I would research reputable salons in the Orlando area. Please let the salon know the reason for your visit, I take great pride in shaving my Fellow Warriors' heads and want them to know I understand this time in their Fight is Real to Me just as it is to them.

I am sending many good wishes and prayers for health and I am happy you are coming Home to Walt Disney World. Just like it will for you, it helped me to push through during some tough times and filled my soul with some extra fight.

    Stay Strong Fellow Warrior,

    Amy M.

I am a Dreamer who has always believed dreams are meant to be the path to your future. Walt Disney, I believe, felt the same way, "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." Disney has always been proof that endless imagination and the passion to make them come to fruition is possible. I will never be to old for Disney, it is home to all of us Dreamers.
