Spliting our May stay between POR and BC so kids (11, 8, 5) can use BC pool, but slide will be closed. How easy is it to go to the slide at BW? Will kids enjoy the rest of BC pool enough to make the resort change worth the hassle/$? Thanks.

Hi John! I have reservations at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts in May too, and my family was initially a little disappointed to receive a letter last week notifying us that the water slide at Stormalong Bay will be closed during our visit. However, my kids quickly perked up when we watched videos of the Boardwalk Resort slide on YouTube -- it looks just as thrilling as the one at Stormalong Bay, so they're excited about trying it. Disney is providing shuttle service between the two resorts for guests wishing to use the Boardwalk slide, so it will be easy to travel between them.  Even without the big slide, Stormalong Bay is a lot of fun -- there's a lazy river, a beach area, a whirlpool area, and a kiddie slide to keep your kids entertained.

My family often splits our stays between various resorts, and although it can be a little bit of a hassle to pack up and move during our vacation, we think it's worth it to be able to stay at different hotels and experience different areas of Disney. I've stayed at both the Beach Club and Port Orleans Riverside, and in my opinion, the Beach Club is well worth the extra money. In addition to the Beach Club's fun pool area, the rooms are bigger and more luxurious than those at the Port Orleans, you can walk to Epcot or take a boat to MGM, and you have loads of great dining options within walking distance.  Even without the slide, you won't regret switching to the Beach Club!

Have a wonderful time in May!
