When will splash mountain close for retheming?

Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Cynthia, and welcome to planDisney! Walt Disney once said that progress is impossible without change, and nowhere is that more true than at Disneyland Resort. The iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle is a stone's throw from the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Park, and I think if Walt could see his park today, he'd say, "My, oh, my, what a wonderful day!"

As you know, one of the most recently announced park changes is an upcoming re-theming of Splash Mountain. This log-flume attraction has entertained guests since it opened in 1989, with that rascal Br'er Rabbit leading us on a wild chase through the briar patch. But Disney's Imagineers have put their heads together to create a new bayou adventure starring everyone's favorite New Orleans Princess, Tiana, and her frog prince.

Our only official word regarding dates is that the newly-themed ride will be called Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and its tentative opening date will be in late 2024. I'm watching the Disney Parks Blog for details as they're announced, but as of now, we don't know when the attraction will have its last plunge as Splash Mountain.

In the meantime, if you'd like a sneak preview of your own bayou fun, check out the Mickey-shaped Beignets at Royal Street Veranda in New Orleans Square the next time you visit Disneyland Park. You'll be swept away to the land of jazz and Spanish moss with one bite. Why, you're almost there!

I hope you have a magical day, Cynthia, and please stop by planDisney anytime. I'll climb the mountain and cross the river to help you plan your most magical visit ever!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
