    We will be spending our son's 8th birthday at the Animal Kingdom on March 17. We are looking for a special place for a birthday celebration at lunch. Do you have any recommendations?

    Susan,

    A St. Patrick's Day birthday? That is great (that is my birthday too)!

    Here are my recommendations for lunch at the Animal Kingdom, in order of what I would do;

    • The fairly new Yak and Yeti table service restaurant is a wonderfully exotic dining experience that he will undoubtedly remember. It will transport you to a far off locale, and the food is quite good.
    • A more moderately priced option is the Tusker House buffet. Great selection, but plenty of classics too.
    • For a less expensive but still exotic and special celebration lunch, go to Flame Tree BBQ. They  have get one of the seats down low by the river. These secluded seating areas hold only a few tables, so you won't have to share a lot with someone else, and again, the food is excellent.
     To make it special, consider ordering a custom birthday cake ahead of time to be delivered to your table. If you forget to do this before leaving for Disney World, you can get a non-personalized birthday cake on the spot.

    Feel free to ask me any follow-up questions from my bio page.
