We will be spending the day at Hollywood Studios and having dinner at Epcot. What is the best way to get between the parks? I was thinking the boat, but how much time should we allow? Thanks so much for all the great information from the panel.

You're right, the boat would be the best way to get from Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) to Epcot. Once you exit the Studios, bear left (away from the bus stops), and you'll see the boat landing area. The boat makes several stops (Swan & Dolphin, Yacht & Beach) so it's not a super speedy trip. But it is very pleasant and you get some great views of the Epcot resorts area. Overall, the actual boat ride takes about 20 minutes. (If you happen to be a fast walker, you should know that you could also walk from DHS to Epcot in about the same amount of time. But I rarely have that much energy left at the end of a Disney day.)

As for the total amount of travel time necessary, in addition to the boat travel time, you'll need to factor in the wait time for the boat. (Could be nothing or could be up to about 15 minutes.) And you'll also need to consider how long it will take you get to your Epcot restaurant once you disembark the boat. If you're eating in England or France, which are quite close to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot, then your walk will only be about 5 minutes. If you're dining in Mexico, you might need to leave 15 minutes of walk time.

In total, you'd most likely make your dinner on time if you left DHS 45 minutes before your Epcot reservation. But I personally would probably leave an hour in advance, just to be safe.
