We are spending Christmas day at Disney! We are sooo excited - even the two teenagers!. What suggestions do you have for a place to eat a sit-down traditional Christmas dinner in the parks? Character meals would be great, if possible!

    Hi Scott,

I've had the good fortune to spend several major holidays at Walt Disney World. Such a great time!

There are only a handful of character meals at the dinner hour: 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, Cinderella's Royal Table in the Castle, Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, the Garden Grill at Epcot and the Princess Storybook meal at Epcot. They will likely all have special menu items on Christmas day. If you want to be in a park, the most holiday-feeling option would be the Royal Table; however, if you have only boys, this might not go over too well. The next best in-park character meal option would be the Garden Grill.

I'd like to take you in another direction. In my mind, there's plenty of time for characters during other parts of your trip. For your actual holiday meal, I'd suggest something more special such as one of Disney's signature dining venues. I've eaten at California Grill and Artist Point on Thanksgiving and Jiko on Christmas day. These all have fabulous food and wine and really elevate your holiday experience. Of the three restaurants I mentioned, the most classic American holiday food would be found at Artist Point. This is located in the Wilderness Lodge, just a quick boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

I too will be spending this coming Christmas at WDW. We're planning to take our teens for dinner at Victoria & Albert's. I can't wait!
