Hi there, Albert! It's great to see you back here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! The
Disney Princess Half Marathon holds a special place in my heart, as it was my very first half marathon. The runDisney bug has definitely bitten me because I have signed up every yEAR since! I think you are an incredible Prince Charming to get up early to chEAR on your lovely wife during the race! Each time I've run a half marathon, I hit a low point around mile 9 or 10, and all it takes is that one spectator to say "Good Job!" or "You've Got This!" to keep me going.
I called runDisney Guest Services, and they said that air horns and confetti poppers would be at the discretion of security. They also directed me to the
Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, which state:
*No horns, whistles, large megaphones, or artificial noisemakers.
*No Fireworks or similarly explosive devices.
My advice would be to leave these items at home, as there is a good chance they will not be allowed through security, and an unsuspecting runner could be startled by the loud noises (which could be a safety issue). From my own experience, I've seen a few spectators out on the course with cowbells, so if you want a way for her to notice you, this could be an option. I personally like to read the "punny" homemade signs. The best ones are made with neon posterboard and have a fun Disney theme.
Here's a Moms Panel tip: Make sure to sign up for Runner Tracking through the runDisney website, so you know when your princess is approaching. Also, use the Digital Event Guide link to find the best
spectating spots on the course.
I hope you have a great race-cation, Albert! See ya' real soon!
