Greetings, Natasha!
Welcome to planDisney! First, let me offer my early congratulations on your upcoming 20th wedding anniversary! That is definitely something to be celebrated, and there really is no better place to celebrate this momentous occasion than Walt Disney World Resort. Your trip may be over a year away, but it's never too early to start dreaming of all the wonderful experiences you can have with your sweetheart.
I think you've chosen the perfect Disney Resorts Collection hotel for your holiday.
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter has a reputation amongst Guests for being one of the more romantic Resorts on property. The sweeping tall trees, picturesque Sassagoula River, historic French Quarter architectural charm, ambient lighting and beautifully landscaped grounds are sure to sweep you off your feet. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is also one of the smaller Moderate Resort hotels, so it tends to feel a little more secluded and quiet.
When you arrive at your Resort hotel, be sure to let the Front Desk know you are celebrating your wedding anniversary. They'll provide you each with a "Happily Ever After" button that you can proudly wear while on your trip. Don't be surprised if you hear a chorus of "Congratulations!" coming from Cast Members during your stay.
Ahead of your trip, I would book a
Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride at your Resort hotel's neighboring sister property,
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, which is only a short walk away. This romantic excursion takes you on a scenic ride along the banks of the Sassagoula River. You can follow up with
Painting on de' Bayou, an instructor-led, Disney-inspired painting class on site at your Resort. Both of these experiences are quite affordable. Reservations can be made 60 days in advance, but be sure to check back closer to your trip to see if that timeline changes.
You could make plans to participate in
Sangria University over at Three Bridges Bar and Grill at Villa del Lago in Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. This 90 minute experience teaches you the history of sangria before allowing you to mix your own glass. It's a truly unique experience and is quite affordable as well.
Book a dining reservation at the one-of-a-kind, world-class
California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort. This Fine/Signature Dining restaurant is said to be one of the best in all of Walt Disney World Resort, and it offers stunning views of the fireworks in Disney Enchantment and all of Magic Kingdom Park. If California Grill is a little over budget, you could instead have dinner at
Steakhouse 71 at Disney's Contemporary Resort. It's delicious too, and you can head to the fourth floor terrace after your meal for a great view of the fireworks from there.
If you want a truly breathtaking, romantic experience, you could opt to splurge on a private
fireworks cruise to view Harmonious at EPCOT. It includes food, drinks and a spectacular close-up view of this nighttime spectacular.
Enjoy your magical anniversary holiday, Natasha!
