Hi Jennifer, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate a special anniversary than at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
I believe that you might be talking about the lucky family chosen each day to be the Grand Marshal of the
Festival of Fantasy Parade. As part of their role, they ride in a special vehicle along the parade route before the floats come out. If you’re referring to something else, definitely submit another question to planDisney so we can get you the information you’re looking for!
Being Grand Marshal is such a special honor, and each morning, a different family is chosen at random. There’s no way to ask to be a part of the experience. So just be your magical selves, have the best
Magic Kingdom day ever, and wish on a star for a bit of extra pixie dust!
And speaking of the Festival of Fantasy Parade, I wanted to share two of my favorite spots for watching the floats. The first one is right behind the statue of Roy Disney and Minnie Mouse on a bench at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A. I love seeing the floats turn around Town Square, giving you a really interesting perspective. The second spot is watching from Frontierland since that area is typically less crowded than Main Street, U.S.A., and easier to find a viewing spot closer to the parade’s start time.
One more thing I wanted to mention before I go. When you get to Disney World, be sure to pick up a complimentary I’m Celebrating or Happily Ever After button to wear during your visit. You can get these buttons at most gift shop checkout counters,
Disney Resort hotel front desks, or
Guest Relations. It’s a fun way for Cast Members and fellow guests to join in on your celebration and wish you a happy anniversary. And, when I get home, I love to turn my buttons into fridge magnets to remind us of all the core memories from our vacation.
I hope you have the most magical anniversary celebration ever in January! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
