Hey there Karl,
Welcome, and thanks for contacting planDisney! Looks like you've got an upcoming Spring vacation planned at Walt Disney World. That's amazing, it's an incredible time of year to visit! Well done on selecting excellent dates.
I believe you are referring to purchasing and reserving
Lightning Lane Passes? Lightning Lane passes allow you to save time spent standing in line, and do a little pre-planning for what you'd like to experience while in the Disney Parks. If that's your plan, you're going to love the time this saves you during your park day. If you will be staying at a
Disney World Resort hotel (or other select hotels like Dolphin, Swan, or Shades of Green), your Lightning Lane purchasing window will open starting at 7:00 am Eastern Time exactly 7 days prior to your check-in date. Or if you are an off site guest, you can purchase Lightning Lane passes starting 3 days before your park visit.
I suggest creating a calendar reminder for yourself, as you'll want to log on to My Disney Experience promptly at 7 to get the best possible selections. I like to plan with my family beforehand what their top ride priorities are, so I know what to prioritize. I've also been known to stalk ride "Wait Times" in the
My Disney Experience app (from 1,500 miles away!) a few days ahead, in order to get a feel for the longest wait times that I'd like to avoid by snagging a Lightning Lane pass. My husband thinks this is a weird obsession... hey, I call it a hobby!
Did you know that you can combine different types of Lightning Lane passes? Even when my family purchases a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, I occasionally also add a Single Pass if it's for one of our favorite "must do" in-demand rides. We recently used this approach, and had one of our best park days ever. We packed so many awesome experiences in!
Don't miss all the delightful sights, smells, and tastes of
EPCOT's Flower & Garden Festival while you're there. Woo hooo for all the amazing topiaries and specialty food booths you'll get to experience!
I hope this helps, Kurt. Enjoy those wonderful Spring temperatures in Florida. Please reach out to
planDisney again with any additional questions you may have.
See ya' real soon!
