My sons (6 & 6) and I will be visitng the World in late May. They desperately want to ride Everest, but have never been on a roller coster. Is this a ride that will be fun for them or will it be too scary? Please Help, not sure what to do.

Expedition Everest sure scares the heck out of me. That being said, obviously everyone is different and has different tolerances for speed, drops, spins, etc. I have twins. One is a daredevil, if she had been tall enough to ride Everest at age 6, she would have jumped at the chance and loved every minute of it. Her sister went on EE for the first time age 8, was petrified and I'm sure she'll never do it again. Only you can tell where your own children might fall on this spectrum.

If your sons have never been on any roller coaster, my inclination would be not to have EE be the first one they try. There are other smaller and slower coasters at WDW that would be good first steps in conquering the Yeti. I would start with Splash Mountain (tame except for the one drop), then Big Thunder Mountain, then Space Mountain. If your sons are good with all of these, then moving up to EE with probably work for them.  If you are only going to be at the Animal Kingdom, I would probably start with the Primeval Whirl and see if they like that before moving on to Everest.

Some other ways to gauge the appropriateness of Everest (or any theme park attraction) for your kids is to experience the ride first yourself. Once you have the experience, you will be best able to assess whether your children will enjoy it. If that doesn't seem workable (for example in a single parent situation or if you're in a big time crunch), you might want to think about watching some video of the attraction to help you decide. Many guests have filmed their rides on WDW roller coaster and posted the footage on YouTube or other similar sites. By viewing these videos, you'll get a virtual preview of the attraction.
