My son's kids are 6 and 1. They are talking about coming to the park this summer. They are thinking that they will have to leave the 1 yr old behind in order for the 6 yr old to really enjoy the park. Are there any other options for them?

    Hi Anne,

I think this is a common question for parents with children of different ages. How do you design a vacation which makes everyone happy? Walt Disney's intention was that the whole family enjoy the Walt Disney World resorts together.

Many of the attractions are suitable for both a one year old, a six year old or a 61 one year old. Many attractions do not have height requirements but may be dark. For example, Peter Pan's Flight has no height restriction but it is in the dark as you leave London for Neverland and Captain Hook and the Croc make an appearance. Your son will need to decide if this is appropriate for the one or six year old to ride as all children are different.

The other advice I would give your son is if his six year old knows about the trip to have the six year old help with the planning. By allowing the six year old to pick three or four attractions at each of the parks to see, he or she will feel like they seen everything. My children still pick their must sees, and they are 12 and 14.

Finally, if they can stay at a resort which allows quick trips back to the rooms for naps for the little one if he or she will not nap in a stroller, this will help make the trip more enjoyable as well.

Wishing your family a magical vacation!
